"Talkin 'Bout My Renovation"
by: Aren Alfaro

Now that our renovation is coming to a close (yes, it has been a year for those of you who remember when it started), I wanted to share a few of the things I did right, and that I am loving living with. The first is our new kitchen, which was finished just two weeks ago with the installation of the tile.

I love our cherry cabinets, tile splashbacks, over-the-cooktop mural, Brazilian cherry floors and tropical green granite countertops. The one mistake I made in the kitchen is the refrigerator—while it is larger than our old one, and looks good (it's stainless as are the other appliances), but continues to be TOO SMALL!!!! I should not have gotten a side-by-side. Enough said. I also love the powder room sink and commode from Giannone Plumbing in Margate. It's by Toto and the seat is self-closing (a great idea) and the sink is such a pretty shape.

Now for the all the other things I love—my sofa, which is pet friendly (we have two dogs and a cat) from Surroundings in Cornerstone Commerce Center in Linwood, my area rugs (also from Surroundings), my floors (from Little T's Hardwood Floors in Linwood), my kitchen tile (from Tile Solutions in Pleasantville), my granite counters (from Gambale Granite in Clementon), my island lights (from Home Depot!) and my refinished piano (done by Morris Padula of Shore Restorations). A special thank you to Christine and Michelle from Surroundings who have infinite patience and good taste! I'll be getting my lamps there soon since they have ones that I love, most especially the Jana Ugone painted ones.

While we are still not living in the master bedroom (still no carpet or window treatments) some day, I hope to be living in a finished home—but when that will be is anyone's guess.
